The case of rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata’s ARG Karr Medical College Hospital was heard in the Supreme Court today. The Supreme Court expressed concern over the working conditions of doctors in the country and also formed a task force to ensure their safety.

And this task force will give suggestions for the safety, working conditions and measures for the betterment of doctors. The court has appealed to the doctors to end the strike and has clearly stated in its decision that the Kolkata case is not just a case of one hospital but it is an issue related to the safety of doctors of the entire country.

That is, this time we can believe that the incident of a heinous crime has brought the concern of the doctor community to the Supreme Court on a national platform, for which they have already struggled by taking to the streets many times.

The case of rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata’s ARG Karr Medical College Hospital has brought the problems of the country’s health workers to the center. The Supreme Court also looked serious on this. The court formed a nine-member task force to ensure the safety of the doctor and made it clear that the safety of doctors is of utmost importance.

See, in the current hearing, they first asked for a report from the CBI and in the mean they have ordered the formation of a National Task Force which has many members and also asked for suggestions from all the medical associations that what do they say, give suggestions as to what can be done and what cannot be done, they have ordered the formation of a National Task Force of medical members.

The Supreme Court has severely reprimanded the West Bengal government and the state police for not dealing with the rape and murder case of doctors properly. The court asked what were the principal and staff doing at the time of the incident, how did the mob of rioters enter the hospital, how did they disturb the crime scene, what action has the police taken so far, when was the FIR of the murder registered?

And why was there a delay in this? The court also asked at what time was the dead body handed over to the family, how was the identity of the victim revealed, why was the doctor’s death called a suicide. The Supreme Court not only reprimanded the Mamata government but also asked tough questions to the central government. The Supreme Court asked what are the security arrangements in hospitals?
